Join us at LFL to practice polite greeting with some of your peers. If your dog is too excited when meeting new dogs or people, nervous around new people or dogs? This workshop is for you! We will go through exercise meant to teach emotional self control, so you can feel confident when you approach distractions our in public, or even at your front door.

Spend an hour with us taking your dog’s recall to the next level. We will work to better define the recall exercise for your dog, give you strong distractions to practice against, and show you how to transition that to off-leash recalls for greater reliability.

This workshop is designed to teach owners how to properly handle the leash during heeling exercises – AKA how to teach and maintain loose leash walking! You can enroll online through our client portal! This is a heeling foundations course, perfect for… Dogs who already know how to heel with us but whose owners need to learn still. (any of our day training or tag-along dogs who haven’t also taken a class or lesson). Dogs that have covered heeling/loose leash walking during a beginner level course and would like a refresher. (Graduates of a 100 level course or private lesson program who need to brush up on their skills). Dogs who are new to Leash Free Living from other training programs and need to learn some leash handling/refresh their loose leash walking & attention skills before jumping into an advanced or elective class. (Dogs that have learned heeling, but not from us).

Get comfortable trimming and grinding your dog’s nails. Nails should be trimmed at minimum once a week, and there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to do them right at home. Short nails can improve your dog’s traction, posture and proprioception. We will have equipment available, but feel free to ask for recommendations as well.

Teach your dog to respond to obedience cues with the ultimate distraction – their peers. Learn how we manage multiple dog situations, and high excitement/stress environments. This is perfect for the dog that doesn’t always play well with others, that annoy other dogs, barks at other dogs, is nervous around other dogs, or just not totally obedient when in play mode (in the backyard or at the dog park, etc). It would be helpful for the dogs to have been introduced to the Place, Sit and Come commands before this workshop, but not necessary. This workshop is not appropriate for dog-aggressive dogs.

Teach your dog to freeze in a sit or down position when asked. This is a fun way to increase difficulty and interest in your basic obedience commands, and a perfect exercise to use in emergency situations when your recall command might not cut it. Dogs should be proficient at sit, down and come before attending this workshop.

Novice Trick Dog Workshop – New trick dog students start here! Teach your dog all the foundation training skills needed to learn all kinds of tricks. In this session we will start a nose target, paw target, learn about luring and shaping, and use some basic obedience skills as tricks. Classic Trick Dog Workshop – For intermediate and above trick dogs: Learn some of these classic dog tricks, like sit pretty, take a bow, play dead, roll over and dance. Party Trick Dog Workshop – For intermediate and above trick dogs: Learn some target-based tricks (paw target, foot target and chin target) like closing doors, pushing buttons, waving, crossing paws and resting their head on cue! Agile Trick Dog Workshop – For intermediate and above trick dogs: Learn agility inspired tricks that you can do with or without props like jump, tunnel, weave, go around and spin! Practical Trick Dog Workshop – For intermediate and above trick dogs: Learn tricks that will help your dog be a more enjoyable companion. Tricks include generalizing place, sending to a kennel, long distance position changes, balancing treats, etc. Circus Trick Dog Workshop – For intermediate and above trick dogs: Learn tricks that will challenge your dog’s body awareness. Tricks include backing up, pivot, paws up, rolling a barrel, etc.
