Trained Dogs Have More Fun!

E-Collar Heel & Sit Drill

Start with your dog on a 6 ft leash. Your e-collar should be set to your dog’s normal working level.

Ask your dog to heel with you. Depending on your dog’s training level, you can either ask for a sit when you halt, or expect an automatic sit. If your dog fails to sit, or sits slowly, apply steady upward pressure with the leash AND hold the constant button down until their hind end starts moving into the sit position. Once they BEGIN to sit, release pressure, praise and repeat. If they stand back up, re-apply the leash pressure and constant button.

If your dog refuses to sit, even with upward leash pressure and the constant button, release the button, increase the stim level and hold the constant button down again.

After the third day, stop applying leash pressure for failed sits and use the e-collar only to reinforce the sit command.
