The Dogs

The dog that started it all, OTCH Mister Rugby Sevens UDX2 OM3 VER RA OA NAJ. I had just started training dogs when the 12 week old Maltese came to live with me in Maryland. He was a very happy and exuberant puppy that was interested in everything in the world… except for me. The leaf laying on the ground, the other dog across the street, the tree way over there, they all needed to be investigated and barked at. He had opinions about it all.

He made his Obedience debut in summer of 2009, earning his Companion Dog (CD) title in three shows with a High in Trial Award too. Six months later, in 2010, he earned his Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title in three shows (one weekend!) and earned another High in Trial Award out of Open A. His Utility Dog title was earned in 2011, just before his third birthday. Three Q’s in a row with another High in Trial and 2 High Combined Awards.

Rugby earned his Obedience Trial Championship (OTCH) on June 20, 2012 at four years old, the first Maltese to earn the title. He won the Toy Group at the 2011 National Obedience Invitationals, and placed second in the Toy Group at the 2014 National Obedience Invitationals. Rugby has accumulated 9 High in Trials and 13 High Combined awards along the way.

Points & Progress – Rugby’s OTCH Journey

Since finishing his OTCH, Rugby started training for Agility. After three months of training, he earned both his Novice Agility and Novice Agility Jumpers titles in October 2012.

While still opinionated, Rugby has matured into an attentive, motivated and quiet adult dog that is capable of stealing the hearts of everyone he meets and all sized dogs too!

This is the newest addition – Stedfast Cupid’s Red Rose v. Kelview CGC CDX RE! There are high hopes for Bourbon, our adorable little red Doberman bitch, in the Obedience and Agility rings. She is smart and sassy! Bourbon earned her Canine Good Citizen award at 11 months of age and earned her Rally Novice title in July 2014.

Bourbon debuted in Obedience in January 2015 and finished her Companion Dog (CD) title just before her second birthday. Bourbon completed her Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title and her Rally Advanced and Excellent (RA, RE) titles in Fall 2015. She is hard at work learning her Utility material and is starting her agility training this winter.
