When we have some spare time on the weekend, we plan a variety of free events for Leash Free Living students. These include some of the following activities.
Power Training Sessions, where we meet at different parks throughout the county for a drop in practice session. The sessions last for 30-45 minutes, and are geared towards graduates of our six week programs but open to all LFL students.
Group Hikes, where we meet at a local trail and practice loose leash walking and trail manners as a pack.
Movie Nights, where we combine Gym Class with long downs, and long places and enjoy a dog movie with other LFL students.
Make sure to follow us on Facebook for upcoming events. Details are usually e-mailed to students as well, as they become available.
Dog Park Behavior Series
Four week add on series to graduates of our Beginner Group Class, Puppy Basics Class or equivalent (geared towards adult dogs and older puppies). Learn how to make a controlled entrance into the dog park, teach your dog to come when called even when they are engaged with play behaviors, learn to read dog body language and when you need to intervene, practice doing all of those things in a controlled environment with known dogs and owners.
Dog park class is held on Saturdays from 9:00 – 9:45 am and costs $5/session. Students must be current students, graduates of a LFL program, or must have taken a private lesson prior to attending this class.
Give your dog a mental workout in gym class. This is a drop in class, held twice a week as an add on for our basic obedience and puppy courses, and as continuing education for graduates. This class has a loose training format so we can customize each days curriculum to the dogs in class that day. We will work on tricks, fitness exercises, polishing and proofing basic obedience exercises, advancing basic obedience exercises to a more challenging format, problem solving, and socializing for puppies.
Class is held at Kitty’s Canine Clips on Mondays, from 8:00 – 9:00 pm and on Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.
Heeling Class is held outdoors, and focuses on advancing your heeling and outdoor obedience skills no matter what level your dog is working. This class can accommodate students still perfecting on leash obedience skills, and students working on their off-leash obedience. While we will focus on heeling, you can expect to practice position changes, stays and recalls in this session as well. Open to graduates of any LFL adult dog training program. Held at Cozy Canine Camp on Saturdays from 10:00 – 11:00 am
Teach your dog a working retrieve, so they can fetch and carry anything they are sent for. This dog training program is run continuously.. Training starts when you sign up and includes 16 weeks of enrollment in the Retrieve class. A test of each level and guided instruction will be given individually during class. Retrieve training program is offered at $250.
Class is held at Kitty’s Canine Clips on Mondays, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
